Superb spielbare Frameraten aller Orten - und doch kann das Ergebnis der ATi- und Matrox-Chips in diesem eher CPU-limitierten Benchmark nicht befriedigen. Zum einen holen die nVidia-Chips wieder mehr aus der angebotenen CPU-Leistung heraus - und zum anderen sind 50 fps in einem High-fps-Spiel wie Return to Castle Wolfenstein mit zugrundeliegender Quake III Arena Engine auch nicht mehr wirklich viel. Ergo sind diese Ergebnisse sicherlich keine Glanztat der Radeon 8500 Chips.

Wesentlich günstiger sieht dies für die Radeon 8500 Chips beim Einsatz des anisostropen Filters aus: Hier reihen sie sich problemlos zwischen GeForce3 /Ti und GeForce4 Ti ein - auch wieder Dank der Frameratengewinne der ATi-Chips, während die nVidia-Chips zwischen 20 und 30 Prozent am anisotropen Filter verlieren.
