Diamond-Umtauschaktion

Offenbar bietet Diamond seinen Kunden eine begrenzte Umtauschaktion an: Man kann eine Diamond Viper II (S3 Savage 2000) gegen eine Diamond Viper V770 Ultra (nVidia Riva TNT2 Ultra) tauschen. I hope it does not frustrate any of you for me to bring this topic back to its origin... Anyway... It has been decided that we will offer this trade to the limited number of customers who contacted me requesting it (plus any who do so before Monday morning August 14, 2000). The trade will be "straight-across". Regardless of the relative value/cost of the cards at the time they were released or today, we will consider them to be of the same value. No money will trade hands in this exchange. The trade is to exchange a Viper II Z200 for a Viper V770 Ultra 32mb AGP card. --The trade will involve us issuing you an RMA number and you returning your Viper II to us at your expense. We will ship the Viper V770 Ultra to you at our expense. --If you would like to receive the Viper V770 Ultra prior to shipping us your Viper II, we will need a Visa or MasterCard credit card number to secure the advance replacement. Additionally, we will need the billing address and name on the card. --You will receive a full retail package. --If you live outside of the USA, you will be responsible for any duties, taxes or fees associated with taking delivery of this new Viper V770 Ultra. Since it will not be a warranty repair, most countries will consider this the same as a new product sale. Auf deutsch: Diamond bietet einen begrenztem Umtausch an (insgesamte Anzahl der Karten nicht bekannt), wer sich noch am Wochenende meldet hat wohl wesentlich bessere Chancen. Der Umtausch passiert Geld-los, d.h. es gibt keinen Ausgleich, wenn die V770 günstiger als die Viper II ist. Für uns Europäer gehen auf jeden Fall alle Zoll- und Transportkosten zu unseren Lasten. Wer dies tun mag, der maile an Jim Hafner-Eaton direkt.

Naja, es lohnt sich in dem Sinne nur für Leute, welche größere Probleme mit der Viper II haben. Denn im eigentlichen
ist der Savage2000-Chip schneller als der TNT2Ultra-Chip. Interessant dabei ist, daß S3/Diamond überhaupt
so etwas anbieten - niemand bietet etwas ohne Vorteil für sich selbst an. Wahrscheinlich will man die bislang
unzufriedenen Kunden jetzt in einer einzigen Aktion zufriedenstellen - und dann jeglichen weiteren Support (?),
speziell bezüglich Treiber-Updates und neuer Treiber für bislang nicht unterstützte Betriebssysteme,
ganz einstellen ...
